Music editions

Most of the historical music prints are to date only cataloged in an internal database or on file cards. We are currently working on the transfer of these catalogs into the OPAC.

Music prints which have been acquired up to c. 1998 are listed in the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM, Series A/I: Individual prints before 1800) under the library siglum „A-Sm“.

Music manuscripts

A part of the collection is already cataloged online in the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM OPAC), other music manuscripts are cataloged in an internal database. For further information about the collection of Mozart autographs see here.

Letters and other documents

These are cataloged in an internal database. A large part of the collection is are already published on the internet (including a scan of the original as well as a modern transcription). You can find these documents - including all of Mozart's letters in the Bibliotheca Mozartiana - on the website of the DME.

Estates

The library possesses the estates of several notable persons, first of all the estates of Mozart’s sons Franz Xaver and Carl Thomas. Other estates (mostly only in parts) include, besides others, those of Johann Ev. Engl, Josef Friedrich Hummel, Franz Ledwinka, Richard Mayr, Ludwig Mielichhofer, Hans Schläger and Erich Schenk.

Archive of the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe (New Mozart Edition) and copies of sources

In the archive of the Neue Mozart-Ausgabe are copies of almost all extant Mozart autographs, as well as copies of many other important Mozart sources. See here for further information.
