Successful Mozart Week 2015

The Mozart Week 2015 in Salzburg was concluded on 1 February.  33 concerts (with two additional concerts as part of the Cuban Mozart Residence and an improvisation by Bartabas) were attended by visitors from over 40 countries.  The highly acclaimed production Davide penitente conducted by Marc Minkowski, artistic director of the Mozart Week and directed by Bartabas, was presented three times.  The ancillary events such as introductory lectures, film presentations and conversations with performing artists were also very well attended.  Approximately 33,500 tickets were available for performances at the Mozart Week; over 30,000 were sold. Two thirds of the concerts were completely sold out. This year the percentage of seats sold amounted to 90 per cent, thus matching last year’s excellent result.

“We are pleased that in this year’s Mozart Week we succeeded in appealing to a broader public”, stated Matthias Schulz, executive artistic director of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation.

“The enchantment of transforming the Felsenreitschule into a unique international event combining music and equestrianism created an enormously strong bond between the audience and the artists”, stated Marc Minkowski, artistic director of the Mozart Week.

Next year the Mozart Week takes place from 22 to 31 January 2016.  You can find details about the entire programme on the website: www.mozarteum.at.  Tickets for the Mozart Week 2016 can already be ordered from the Ticket Office of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, Theatergasse 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria, via email: tickets@mozarteum.at or by fax: +43 662 874454
