Mozart Week 2015: Nikolaus Harnoncourt will conduct

The concert by the Vienna Philharmonic in the Grosses Festspielhaus on 24 January 2015 during the Mozart Week will be conducted by Nikolaus Harnoncourt in memory of Lorin Maazel who was originally scheduled to conduct.  As Matthias Schulz, artistic director and executive manager of the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, stated, “We are very fortunate that Nikolaus Harnoncourt, holder of the Golden Mozart Medal, can take over at relatively short notice for Lorin Maazel, who died recently.”
The programme has been changed and is now as follows:
Schubert                     Overture to the melodrama Die Zauberharfe, D 644 ‘Rosamunde’ Overture
Schubert                     Symphony No. 6 in C major, D 589
Interval
