José Antonio Abreu visits the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation

José Antonio Abreu, Venezuelan visionary and founder of El Sistema, recently visited the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation.  He viewed the special exhibition Mozart Pictures – Pictures of Mozart in the Mozart Residence and afterwards showed great interest in the autograph manuscripts on display in the vaults.

José Antonio Abreu gave the special address at the opening of the Salzburg Festival 2013 in which he commented on Mozart’s music as follows:

“Mozart’s music contains an inexpressible cosmic power that is capable of reconciling great contrasts: sensitivity and intellect, form and content, passionate and visionary dialogue, struggle and faith, pain and hope, hell and firmament, shouting and singing, apocalypse and apotheosis.”

“Nowadays, more than ever before, Mozart’s art has to inspire children and young people to create a new society which we imagine as a wonderful and radiant orchestra; we have to design it as such and build on it.”

“The hand of Mozart – through the history of its path to eternal happiness – guides our children and young people.”
