Original Mozart string instruments in the USA for the first time. Mozart\'s concert violin and viola to open the Boston Early Music Festival

In June 2013, the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg will be presenting Mozart's original string instruments in the United States of America for the first time. The concert violin and viola will be presented by early music specialists at the Boston Early Music Festival's opening concert. The Mozarteum Foundation Mozart builds bridges between preserving tradition and contemporary culture in its three core fields (concerts, scholarship, museums). Its aim is to foster changing perspectives and provide new food for thought in exploring Mozart, not only preserving this cultural heritage, but also strengthening it and spreading it as well.

The concert featuring Mozart's violin and viola is scheduled on the programme of the Boston Early Music Festival for the 10th of June. Amandine Beyer (Mozart violin) of France and Milos Valent (Mozart viola) of Slovakia will be playing works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - they will be accompanied by Erich Hoeprich (clarinet) and Kristian Bezuidenhout (pianoforte).  Bezuidenhout  will be a guest performer with Mozart's piano sonatas in Salzburg at the upcoming Mozart Week, held 23 January to 2 February 2014.  "These authentic Mozart instruments can only be experienced on very seldom occasions, even in Salzburg", says Matthias Schulz, Artistic and Managing Director at Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg.

Mozart violin will also be presented in New York

On 13 June 2013, the concert violin will be travelling with Johannes Honsig-Erlenburg, President of the Mozarteum Foundation, and Matthias Schulz to New York. There, the Mozart violin will be presented at an event hosted by the Austrian Cultural Forum for the first time, and played there by American violinist and composer David Fulmer.

These two concerts illuminate the Mozarteum Foundation's aspiration to spread Mozart's legacy around the world in a lively manner. "It is wonderful that it has been possible to realise the first visit of Mozart's original string instruments in the USA at one of the world's leading festivals for early music, the Boston Early Music Festival. Mozart belongs to everyone; for those of us who represent the Mozarteum Foundation, it is both our gift and our duty not only to uphold this legacy, but also to work with it and to make something out of it", says President Johannes Honsig-Erlenburg.

The concert at the Boston Early Music Festival will be held on 10/6/2013 at 8:00pm in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory in Boston, 30 Gainsborough Street, Massachusetts. You can find tickets and further information about the Boston Early Music Festival at: www.bemf.org

The presentation in NY will be held on Friday, 14 June 2013, 7:30pm at the Austrian
Cultural Forum - 11 East 52nd Street, New York, NY 10022.
